Sizewell C
Supporting East Suffolk Business
Dedicated business support for East Suffolk, funded through the Sizewell C Deed of Obligation.
What is this service?
The construction of Sizewell C is already changing life in East Suffolk. For some businesses, that means disruption; to trade, to access, to the everyday running of a business in the area. For others, it means significant new opportunities in procurement, supply chains, and a growing local workforce.
East Suffolk Council takes both realities seriously. Through a Deed of Obligation agreed with Sizewell C as part of the planning process, we have secured dedicated funding to provide a free business support service for East Suffolk businesses. This service is here to help you navigate whatever Sizewell C means for your business, whether that’s protecting what you have, or accessing what’s available.
The full-service launches in summer 2026. Until then, if you have an urgent enquiry, we want to hear from you.
Dealing with construction impacts?
If Sizewell C construction is affecting your business, through disruption to access, footfall, operations, or trade, this service can help you understand your options and access practical support to stay resilient.
Looking for supply chain opportunities?
Sizewell C is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK, with significant procurement opportunities for local businesses. We can help you understand what’s available and what you need to do to be in a position to compete for it.
Questions about compensation?
We understand that some businesses are experiencing real and significant impacts as a result of Sizewell C construction, and that questions about compensation are an understandable response to that.
This service is funded to provide business support, practical advice, specialist programmes, and grants to help businesses adapt and access opportunities. It is not able to process, assess, or advise on compensation claims.
If you believe your business may be entitled to compensation from Sizewell C, you will need to contact Sizewell C directly.
Active Support
Food & Drink
Local food producers, hospitality businesses, and suppliers have a real opportunity to meet the needs of the Sizewell C workforce and project. We are working with Tastebuds to deliver a dedicated programme to help local food and drink businesses build the capacity and capability to access these opportunities.
Leiston
Leiston businesses are feeling the effects of construction more directly than most. We are committed to dedicated, on-the-ground support for the town, including coaching and practical resilience support for local businesses through the High Street Matters programme. If you’re a Leiston business, we want to hear from you. Email the Economic Development Team and someone will be in contact to arrange a follow-up call with you.
Energy Supply Chain
Through the Energy Readiness Programme, we are helping East Suffolk businesses build the capability to compete for Sizewell C contracts and wider energy sector opportunities. If you want to be supply chain ready, this programme is for you.
Tourism
The Sizewell C Tourism Fund is already active and supporting East Suffolk’s visitor economy. If you are a tourism or hospitality business, find out more about the support available now.
