Framlingham Market benefits from Business Association funding

Framlingham Market has been able to continue operating safely throughout the Covid-19 pandemic thanks to funding from the East Suffolk Business Association Development Fund which provided signage and hand sanitisers in the town.

Following discussions between the Covid-19 Response Team, led by Cllr Gary Kitching on behalf of the Town Council, Nick Corke and HOUR Community, and Framlingham Business Association, the ‘Stay at Home’ signage was erected around the town, and when Government guidelines changed, the group issued new ‘Stay Alert’ signage as well as ‘Keep Your Distance’ signs.

The town’s regular Market traders have been able to continue trading at the Tuesday and Saturday Markets throughout the last 11 weeks, providing a much needed service to residents. Extra bollards, hazard tape and 2m distance markings on the ground were set up to help with the queues and keep social distancing in place. The Market traders all had hand sanitisers so it was agreed that the next step should be public hand sanitisers. These were ordered with a grant received from the East Suffolk Business Association Fund and are now in place for every market day.

Speaking about the amendments to the market square, Cllr Gary Kitching said “It was a great partnership effort that ensures we are doing our best to promote safety now and are prepared for the future”.

Framlingham Business Association secured a £1,700 grant from the East Suffolk Business Association Development Fund to help pay for the signs, hand sanitisers and extra work to the town’s website www.framlingham.com which has all the up-to-date information and the ‘Home But Not Alone’ newsletter.
