Inside Framlingham Castle grounds

About Framlingham

Framlingham is a charming market town that is full of character. With pretty timber-framed buildings, a river running through the town and a medieval castle, it is an appealing place in which to live, work and visit.

Framlingham Castle is the jewel in the crown of this market town, with its walls remaining intact since the 12th century. The castle was home to Mary Tudor before she became Queen in 1553 but nowadays is more famous for featuring in Ed Sheeran’s song ‘Castle on the Hill’!

The town thrives on tourism and there are a number of fine restaurants, cosy inns and stylish cafés in which to relax and be refreshed, as well as comfortable hotels and B+Bs for those who wish to prolong their stay.

The town boasts an enviable arts and crafts scene, with numerous art galleries, antiques centres and even a blacksmith. The local market, which happens on both Tuesdays and Saturdays, has been taking place for over 700 years!
